Welcome to the home page of HES, the Hardware and Embedded Systems group.

HES is part of PARIS (PARallel Information Systems group) and the ELIS (ELectronics and Information Systems) department of the Engineering Faculty at Ghent University. HES is a dynamic research group, lead by Prof. Dirk Stroobandt, with participation of Post-docs, researchers and Ph.D. students. Within HES, three main research themes are investigated: communication challenges in parallel hardware and multicore architectures, dynamic run-time reconfiguration of FPGA's, and High-level synthesis focusing on data locality and parallelism. More information on these topics can be found on the pages [[http://hes.elis.ugent.be/research/communication|communication]], [[http://hes.elis.ugent.be/research/reconfig|dynamic reconfiguration]], and [[http://hes.elis.ugent.be/research/hls|high-level synthesis]].

As the challenges the HES group is tackling, are huge, we are constantly on the lookout for new co-researchers and new collaborations. Highly motivated Ph.D. students and post-doc researchers should contact Prof. Dirk Stroobandt (dirk.stroobandt@ugent.be) for current opportunities. Research groups and industry researchers looking for collaborations through European or other projects are very welcome to contact us as well.

Once again... welcome to HES!

Dirk Stroobandt
